In 1992, Â my wife Laura and I looked at the available options for building our dream home in the province of Guanacaste Costa Rica. We saw many of the small quaint Costa Rica towns like Tamarindo grow into busy party towns, the prices in up and coming towns like Nosara started to go through the roof, and a lack of planning from developers offering small stand-alone homesites with no sense of community.
We saw a need to build an upscale gated community that offered large, private, ready-to-build homesites. We selected the world-class surf break and beach town of Playa Marbella because it was moderately remote and felt is was the perfect mix of jungle and beach lifestyle. That’s why we built Vista Bella.
In Guanacaste are a few beautiful, under the tourist radar, beaches to discover. One of those beaches is Playa Marbella, about one hour south of Tamarindo and 30 minutes north of Nosara.
It’s a great surfing beach and for anyone looking for a off the beaten path beach to visit for a day. Although locally known as Playa Marbella, the true name of this beach is Playa Frijolar.
